Position:     Groundskeeper

Reports to:     Director of Maintenance

Terms of Employment:     12 months – 20 hours per week

Nature of Work

An employee in this position performs grounds maintenance and landscaping functions for

Pamlico County Schools. Employent involves safe and efficient operation of mowers, edgers, trimmers, blowers, etc.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or Previous landscaping experience preferred but not required.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs ground maintenance and landscaping functions such as mowing, trimming, pruning,
• Maintains the grounds including grass, shrubbery, trees, and walkways of all school
• Assist with daily facilities maintenance operations as

 

Essential Functions/Typical Tasks

• Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment including mowers, weed eaters, edgers, blowers, hedge clippers, chain saws, shovels, rakes, etc.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Requires the ability to follow oral and written
• Knowledge of grounds maintenance and landscaping equipment procedures and the ability to follow and landscaping safety precautions.

Physical Requirements

• Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking and requires the ability to lift at least 50

 

 Special Requirements

• Possession of valid driver’s license issued by the state of North Carolina. Must maintain a safe driving record. Employees assigned to this position must follow specific drug testing requirements, procedures and consequences of positive alcohol or drug tests.
