Nature of Work

The Paraprofessional (Special Education) supports certified teachers in meeting the instructional, educational, behavioral, and social emotional needs of students with disabilities in the classroom. The paraprofessional will need to be familiar with individual education plans (IEP) and be able to follow them.

 

Education and Experience

A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED

 

Certification and Licensure Requirements (if applicable)

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to use hands to fingers, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to perform medium work exerting in excess of 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift objects. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
